Fadderuke

Inspired by "The Social Guidebook to Norway"

The relationship Norwegians enjoy with alcohol

can be surprising

A few days after I first came to Norway

I wanted to explore the city at night

I saw beautiful blond Norwegian young women

In nice dresses

And men in ties

Crawling on the sidewalks

They call it “fadderuke”

I encourage Norwegians to drink

It makes them happy

They give each other physical contact

And many meet their partners like this

But I always tell the students

“Prevent the crawling”

It is always better to walk home

Not alone

Enjoy Fadderuke

Have fun, party, hug, have sex

But prevent the crawling
