The Norwegian Mountains

Source: "The Social Guidebook to Norway"

In our article about the Norwegian hytte

We discussed how Norwegians will drive for hours

Walk across forests, rivers and mountains

To reach a place where they can be isolated, in nature, alone and peaceful

In such an isolated place

Norwegian feel safe

They greet

They small talk

For no reason

When family and friends come to visit from abroad

I bring them to the Norwegian mountains

I show them how beautiful the Norwegian wilderness is

And how polite Norwegians are

Everyone says "hei"

Norwegians smile to people they have never met

Some even stop to small talk

About the weather

About the beauty of the landscape

Some might even ask foreigners where they are from

Why they are in Norway

Wishing them welcome to this magnificent country

When Norwegians have the possibility to escape

In the mountains, at the hytte, when cross-country skiing

They greet

They acknowledge each other

It is enjoyable

Everyone feels welcomed

This is why our new publisher and myself are travelling the fjords and mountain this summer again

To meet Norwegians in their natural habitat

We learn a lot about Norwegians doing this

And thanks to Subaru

We are "ustoppelig" and can easily drive up to their hytte

we hide books all over the Western mountains
