A Norwegian Marrying a Foreigner

Source: "The Social Guidebook to Norway"

In Norway you may get married before

Or after having children

Sometimes people get married in a Church

Sometimes not

Sometimes they marry someone from the opposite sex

Sometimes not

I was invited to the wedding of a friend

He was from Lebanon

She was from Norway

From the very beginning

It was easy to identify the two families

During the dinner

Norwegians started to drink

But the Lebanese did not

Slowly emotions started to appear on the Norwegian side

After the first meal

The Lebanese took out their musical instruments

And started to play

While Norwegians continued to drink

Less than an hour later Norwegians were dancing on the tables

Despite challenging cultural differences at first

Both families live happily

Alcohol helping!

This is exactly what we need to do when building a multi-cultural organization

Find the tools - the musical instruments - that will bridge culture and help people connect

This is exactly what this project is about

To provide tools that bridge cultures
